Detailed information on Eames Soft Pad Lounge Chair, Model EA438

This is an Eames Aluminum Group Soft Pad Lounge Chair, model EA438, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1969. This example dates to 2007. The design features a cast aluminum frame with a 5-star base, and has 4 thick padded cushions along its back. It retains its original fabric upholstery that is a light tan or oatmeal.

This chair measures 31 inches long, 26 inches wide, and is 38.75 inches high. It has a seat height of 17 inches. The upholstery is nicely broken-in and is quite comfortable, and the aluminum base and arms have a soft patina. There is some wear apparent around the corners of the fabric, and there are some light wear to the base. The chair still retains its tags underneath. Overall, this chair is in good condition with some wear apparent. Please see photos.
