The \"Stand Alone\" series is about balance, designed to stand on their own as a geometric sculpture. Making these pieces to stand on their own requires rebalancing the piece each time I change grits as I polish the piece to 7000. This polishing process seals the wood and adds natural shine. Nickel plates are added to various facets which adds an element of aesthetic balance.
The nickel details do not rest on your skin and is harder than silver, therefor will not scratch as easy as silver. It also allows for a thicker more dramatic plate without the incredible cost associated silver.
