A Stunning Vintage Omega Dress Watch in Superb Condition with a Semi Tropicalised Dial, Unique Arrowhead Hour Makers and Omega-Signed Crystal, c.1952

The Omega reference 2639  is a sought-after vintage watch mainly due to its oversized case, sometimes referred to as a Jumbo Calatrava style watch. These were produced mainly in the 1950s with various movements and a variety of dials. Its size, in particular, has remained appealing, at 36mm, it is unusually substantial given its period of production as most watches of that era were much smaller. You will find it also wears larger than even its 36mm size, and this is due to the fact the dial is large as the case bezel is quite thin and with the long and twisted lugs it gives it an overall larger feeling, both on and off the wrist!

You simply cannot go wrong with a vintage Omega and certainly this is true when it comes to a piece in this condition - the watch is over 70 years old yet looks like it just came out of the showroom! That is apart from the dial which has aged to a stunning ivory colour which looks stunning! There are a couple of speckles of patina and it is possible that with age and temperature, this watch could tropicalise completely as the process has already begun. For those who appreciate the marvels of tropicalisation, this watch is a gem!

The dial is furnished with arrowhead hour markers and stylish Dauphine hands. A sub-seconds dial sits at 6 o\'clock and an applied Omega emblem completes the picture. The dial is encapsulated underneath an Omega-signed acrylic crystal and encased in polished stainless steel. The case and lugs are in superb condition with barely a blemish, it is in unbelievably good condition!

At 36mm this is a nice mid-size watch, it is ideal for everyday wear as well as being perfectly suitable for more formal occasions - it\'s just beautiful! It is running well, powered by the Omega 266 which is considered to be a workhorse movement that is easy to service. A great addition to any collection and beautiful on the wrist.
