Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, or simply Le Corbusier (1887-1965), was a rock star. Alongside Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier was one of the leading architects of the early 20th-century Modernist movement. He viewed homes as machines for living. He was a teacher, sculptor, painter, and architect. He was also an urban planner and designed entire cities in India.
Le Corbusier held that furniture should be “extensions of our limbs and adapted to human functions.” The LC4 Chaise Longue (1928) embodies this notion with a “floating” frame that moves with the body. The LC4 is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Each piece is signed, numbered, and produced as part of Cassina\'s Masters Collection, manufactured under an exclusive worldwide license from the Le Corbusier Foundation. Made in Italy.
Listed is an iconic LC4 Chaise Longue from the late 2010s, signed and numbered on the frame, in good vintage condition. Minor wear on the frame. The pillow remains soft and plush. The cowhide cover is in good condition.
